Businesses converge in Victoria

Growers from across Australia and overseas will come together in next month for the largest conference and trade show for horticulture in the Southern Hemisphere.

Victoria’s budget shows rising debt and major cuts

The largest conference and trade show for horticulture in the Southern Hemisphere will be on show in Melbourne next month, as growers from across Australia and overseas come together for a three-day program.

Hort Connections will host speakers from across all areas of the horticulture industry, while also giving attendees the opportunity to tour grower businesses across Victoria.

One of these businesses is Peter Schreurs & Sons Vegetable Farm at Clyde, and son of Peter, Mark, said he’ll be hoping for good weather to show their vegetable growing operations off to visitors.

“We’d like to talk about the ways we’ve been transitioning our regenerative practices over the last 20 years, and where we’re at today and where we’re hoping to go,” he said.

“That’s a point of difference for us, the way we manage our farm.”

“Our Farm and Retail Tours are an opportunity for attendees to get a look inside the businesses of key players in the horticulture industry that would otherwise be inaccessible,” said AusVeg national manager – events and partnerships Nathan McIntyre.

Other tours this year include the Melbourne Wholesale Market, fruit and berry farms in the Yarra Valley, and the Butler Market Gardens on the Mornington Peninsula.

The event will be held from 3-5 June at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
