Price rise predicted for dairy products

Record opening prices, accelerated input costs and a topsy-turvy trade situation are set to be hot topics in a dairy industry roundtable discussion this week.

Hosted by The Weekly Times, four industry figures — representing the policy, processor, research and on-farm sides of the sector — will take part in the discussion.

Australian Dairy Products Federation Janine Waller, Gippsland farmer Brad White, United Dairyfarmers of Victoria vice president Mark Billing and Dairy Australia managing director David Nation will all take part in the online forum on Friday.

Mr Nation said: “I’m really looking forward to the upcoming panel discussion. It will be a great to hear from others and to talk about the opportunities for our industry and how we’re tackling the challenges ahead.”

Mr Billing said there will be plenty of issues to cover, with input costs front-of-mind for many farmers.

“It’s an exciting time for the dairy industry. Prices are some of the strongest ever seen but there’s also challenges with input costs and labour shortages,” he said.
