Meat Loaf supporting vegan menu, but won’t change name

The Bat Out of Hell performer who went on a meat-free diet for 11 years in the past to lose weight doesn’t find it appetising to be called Veg Loaf.

MARVIN Aday is the latest celebrity to join the vegan bandwagon that is Veganuary.

Who’s Marvin? Well, he’s better known for his carnivorous stage name Meat Loaf.

Mr Loaf, a noted AFL Grand Final performer, was asked by British restaurant chain Frankie and Benny’s to rebrand as Veg Loaf for the month.

The Bat Out Of Hell singer is no stranger to vegetarianism, having stopped eating meat for 11 years in the past. He eventually returned to a meat diet to help lose weight.

“The carbohydrate diet worked to a point,” said the star. “I lost 30lb (13.6kg) but it went right back on. I lost 70lb (31.8kg) on the low-fat no-sugar diet.”

UK tabloid Daily Star summed up Mr Loaf’s situation in a recent headline: “Like a Bite out of Hell”.
