Two separate incursions of positive cases from NSW into Victoria

New Covid-19 public exposure sites have been identified in Victoria after a family returned from Sydney and a group of infectious removalists transited through the state.

There have now been three incursions of the virus from Victoria’s northern neighbour as Sydney grapples to control an outbreak expanding rapidly across the city.

An entire apartment complex in Melbourne’s west has been plunged into lockdown after the Sydney removalists visited the building.

The Western Public Health Unit has identified a “risk of transmission” at the Ariele Apartments in Thomas Holmes St, Maribyrnong from 1pm on Thursday July 8.

Anyone who was at the complex from 1pm to 11.59pm on July 8 has been identified as a tier one close contact and must immediately isolate, get tested and quarantine for 14 days.

As letter from Western Health provided to residents explained they must not leave isolation except to get tested and in an emergency – they are not even allowed to leave to get vaccinated.

Victoria has also recorded two new Covid-19 cases, the health department announced on Monday afternoon, with a number of new exposure sites added late on Monday afternoon.

Two people tested positive after a after the family of four returned to their home in Hume council in Melbourne’s north from Sydney last week.
