New Victorian exposure sites, Craigieburn Central Coles, McDonalds Ballan added
New Covid-19 venue alerts have been issued in Victoria – including a Coles and McDonalds – after two new cases were found.
New Covid-19 public exposure sites have been identified in Victoria after a family returned from Sydney and a group of infectious removalists transited through the state.
There have now been three incursions of the virus from Victoria’s northern neighbour as Sydney grapples to control an outbreak expanding rapidly across the city.
An entire apartment complex in Melbourne’s west has been plunged into lockdown after the Sydney removalists visited the building.
The Western Public Health Unit has identified a “risk of transmission” at the Ariele Apartments in Thomas Holmes St, Maribyrnong from 1pm on Thursday July 8.
Anyone who was at the complex from 1pm to 11.59pm on July 8 has been identified as a tier one close contact and must immediately isolate, get tested and quarantine for 14 days.
As letter from Western Health provided to residents explained they must not leave isolation except to get tested and in an emergency – they are not even allowed to leave to get vaccinated.
Victoria has also recorded two new Covid-19 cases, the health department announced on Monday afternoon, with a number of new exposure sites added late on Monday afternoon.
Two people tested positive after a after the family of four returned to their home in Hume council in Melbourne’s north from Sydney last week.
One of the family members who tested positive returned to Victoria by car on July 8, while the other members of the household flew back on July 4.
“As red zone permit holders, they are required to quarantine for 14 days. Investigations and interviews are underway to determine their movements,” the health department said.
Five venues connected to the family have so far been added as exposure sites by the health department.
The following tier one sites have been listed, meaning people need to isolate immediately, get tested and quarantine for 14 days:
- Ballan: Mobil Ballan – Westbound, 6511 Western Freeway, Ballan, July 8 from 5pm to 7pm;
- Ballan: McDonalds Ballan – Westbound, 6511 Western Freeway, Ballan, July 8 from 5pm to 7pm;
- Maribyrnong: Ariele Apartments, 7 Thomas Holmes St, Maribyrnong, July 8 from 1pm to 11.59pm;
- Craigieburn: Coles Craigieburn Central Shopping Centre, Craigieburn Rd and Windrock Ave, Craigieburn, July 10, from 5.28pm to 6.38pm.
The following tier two sites have been listed meaning people need to get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result:
- Maribyrnong: Ariele Apartments, 7 Thomas Holmes St, Maribyrnong, all days from July 9 to 12;
- Broadmeadows: Metro Petroleum, 184 Widford St, Broadmeadows, July 11 from 1.19pm to 2.04pm;
- Qantas Flight QF1542 Launceston to Melbourne, Launceston Airport to Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine), July 2, 10.15am to 11.20am.
Those who visited Craigieburn Central Shopping Centre, Craigieburn Rd, July 10 from 5.28pm to 6.38pm need to monitor for symptoms.
