Podcast: Farmer of the Year Tom Bull on ag challenges
PODCAST: Farmer of the Year Tom Bull speaks with The Weekly Times reporter CHANTELLE FRANCIS about challenges the agricultural industry is facing and his advice moving forward. LISTEN NOW.
FROM feeding sheep to national television appearances. It’s been a whirlwind of a week for our new The Weekly Times Coles 2018 Farmer of the Year.
When Tom Bull started his own stud of five ewes at just 10-years-old, he could never have imagined being crowned the best farmer in the country.
“It was certainly a passion since I was a kid,” Tom said. “Some kids ride horses, others want to ride motorbikes … I loved stud sheep.”
Tom, who runs Lampro with his wife Phoebe at Holbrook, NSW, encourages farmers to stand strong and proud in the face of challenges gripping the industry — including cost pressures, consumer expectations, climate change and anti-farming extremists.
