RED meat company Provenir is rolling its new mobile abattoir into NSW this month, after receiving more than $60,000 in pre-sales for its on-farm processed “high-welfare” beef packs.

Provenir co-founder Chris Balazs says the start-up company built a mobile processing unit to eliminate the need for live transport, improve animal welfare and produce quality meat. He added he was buoyed by the level of pre-order support.

Beef producer Nick Austin is one of 11 farmers who have committed to supply livestock to be sold under the Provenir brand, once the unit completes licencing requirements.

Running a property at Mundarlo, NSW, Nick uses holistic and regenerative management practices.

In the past, he and a group of local farmers considered creating a mobile slaughter solution themselves, but were overwhelmed by the complexities of the task. “We thought the idea of a mobile abattoir would be fantastic,” Nick said. “But then we looked at all the hoops you had to jump through.

“We love to promote Provenir, because it suits how we like to do business. Low stress, high animal welfare, grass fed beef.”
