STRUGGLING Organic Dairy Farmers of Australia has been acquired by a Melbourne-based processor with prior ties to the Geelong enterprise.

Receivers have announced that all assets of the ODFA have been sold to the Remarkable Milk Company, which had been a customer of the North Geelong factory through its True Organic branded products.

The sale includes ODFA’s land, factory and all brands and trademarks but it does not include any agreements with the farmers who were the former members of ODFA and which had regrouped under a different name to bid to repurchase the assets.

Remarkable Milk Company chief executive Alistair McCredden said his company was looking to work with farmers previously contracted to ODFA “to provide them with a secure source for their milk supply.”

“Our aim is to offer not just a job but a future for Geelong families,” he said.

“Our shareholders are families and they understand the importance of thinking in generations rather than just for tomorrow.”

The sale of Organic Dairy Farmers of Australia, which attracted dozens of interested parties due to a rise in organic consumer interest, was undertaken by its receivers, Deloitte.
