Lawsons Angus: Top bull makes $52,000 at spring sale
A standout bull has sold for $52,000 at today’s Lawsons Angus sale in Yea, which also marked 50 years of breeding for the stud. Results here.
LAWSONS Angus topped at $52,000 at their spring bull sale on-property in Yea today.
A total of 77 bulls sold of the 78 offered for an average of $8585.
The bulls running on-property at Harry Lawson’s stud in Yea were auctioned alongside the Lawson blood co-operative herd running at Boorowa, NSW owned by Vince Rheinberger.
Mr Lawson sold 58 18-month-old bulls for an average of $9431 while Mr Rheinberger’s 19 yearling bulls in Boorowa averaged $6000.
The top-priced bull Lawsons Miraculous was a standout on the day, an impressive $36,000 ahead of second top-priced bull Lawsons Momentum which sold for $16,000 to Weeran Angus.
The $52,000 topper was sired by Lawsons Momentous and ranked in the top one per cent of the Angus breed for EMA at 17.5 and in the top four per cent for IMF with a figure of 3.3.
The 18-month-old bull has been tested through the Lawson’s feed efficiency program where it was noted as being above average for feed conversion and net feed intake.
TRT pastoral company took home the top-priced bull alongside nine other bulls they purchased on the day for an average of $14,600.
The sale celebrated 50 years of breeding for Lawson’s.
