NSW Police have confirmed Josh Addo-Carr’s oral sample taken last Friday night has come up positive.

The Bulldogs star was pulled over in Wentworth Point, where he allegedly tested positive for drugs.

On Friday it was reported that the Bulldogs winger’s secondary test has since come back positive.

“Police informed our office this afternoon that the secondary test carried out by Josh Addo Carr has returned a positive result,” Addo-Carr’s legal team told Nine’s Danny Weidler.

“We are dealing with the situation in conjunction with Josh and will determine a path moving forward in due course.”

The news comes as a massive blow to both Addo-Carr and the Bulldogs, with the club’s crucial finals clash against Manly on the horizon this weekend.

In a bid to quell the media storm and relieve pressure on the club, Addo-Carr has been stood down ahead of the match. Despite the allegations, the 29-year-old winger firmly denied taking any illegal substances when speaking with club officials.

According to a police statement released on Tuesday, officers stopped Addo-Carr’s car for random testing around 10:45pm.

While the roadside breath test came back negative, a drug wipe showed a positive result.

An oral fluid sample was taken and sent away for forensic analysis, but officers were unable to conduct a second test due to an urgent call.

“About 10.45pm on Friday, officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command were patrolling Baywater Drive, Wentworth Point, when they stopped a Toyota hatchback for random testing,” the police statement said.

“The driver – a 29-year-old man – was subject to a roadside breath test which returned a negative result. The driver underwent a preliminary drug wipe, which allegedly returned a positive indication.

“An oral fluid sample was obtained and sent for further analysis. At this time, an urgent call for assistance was received in relation to a reported attempted home invasion on Church Street, Lidcombe, about 10.54pm.

“A secondary drug wipe was not conducted as officers were required to respond to the urgent call. Auburn Police Area Command has reviewed the incident and is satisfied with the actions of the officers involved.

“The investigation is ongoing, as police await the results of the forensic analysis. No charges have been laid at this time.”

Addo-Carr’s lawyer Elias Tabchouri has since released a statement, asserting that while the Bulldogs winger does not contest the facts of the police report, he maintains he did not consume any drugs not prescribed by a doctor.
