Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office says he held off on a tougher strike against Iran after speaking to US President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu’s office says Israel struck an Iranian radar in response to the Iranian missile attack on Tuesday.

“Following President Trump’s conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel refrained from additional attacks,” Netanyahu’s office says.

US President Donald Trump said he does not want to see “regime change” in Iran, saying it would lead to chaos.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to a NATO summit, Trump said Iran is not going to have a nuclear weapon and that Russian President Vladimir Putin had called him and offered to help with Iran.

Despite US President Donald Trump’s claims Israel would not attack Iran in retaliation for purportedly breaching the ceasefire agreement, reports are circulating the country did attack a single site in Iran, violating the truce.

Israeli and Iranian media sources reported the Israeli Air Force struck one Iranian radar site, north of Tehran, in response to missiles allegedly launched by Iran during the ceasefire.

Trump, in a post on Truth Social earlier, said Israel would perform a “friendly ‘plane wave’” to Iran, and nobody would be hurt, before Israeli planes “turned around”.

In a third post to Truth Social this past hour, US President Donald Trump said: “IRAN WILL NEVER REBUILD THEIR NUCLEAR FACILITIES!”

The conflict, now in its 12th day, began with Israel targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, saying it could not allow Tehran to develop atomic weapons – and that it feared the Islamic republic was close. Iran has long maintained that its program is peaceful.

Many worried the war might widen after the US joined the attacks by dropping bunker-buster bombs at the weekend, and Israel expanded the kinds of targets it was hitting.

But after Tehran launched a limited retaliatory strike on a US military base in Qatar on Monday, Trump announced the ceasefire.

Israel and Iran accepted the agreement, but it is now unclear if it will hold after the claims of violations on both sides.

This is what the president posted, verbatim: “All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The post followed reports that Trump had spoken with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the phone, warning Israel not to carry out a retaliation strike after Israel claimed Iran violated the ceasefire.

US President Donald Trump has unleashed a tirade against Israel and Iran before jetting off to the NATO summit in the Netherlands, telling reporters both countries “don’t know what the f--- they’re doing”.

“We basically have two countries that have both been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f--- they’re doing,” Trump said.

Minutes before, during the same address to media, Trump said: “Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and they dropped a load of bombs the likes of which I’ve never seen before. The biggest load that we’ve seen.

“When I say, ‘OK, now you have 12 hours’, you don’t go out in the first hour and just drop everything you have on [Iran].”

The US president also lashed the media, particularly CNN, over their coverage of US military strikes on Iran.

“Iran will never rebuild [a nuclear weapon] … from there, absolutely not. That place is under rock. That place is demolished,” Trump said.

“But when I see CNN, all night long, they’re trying to say, ‘maybe it wasn’t really as demolished as we thought’ – it was demolished.”

CNN was among broadcasters that should apologise to the pilots behind the strikes, Trump said.
