Magpies agree to deal

By Michael Gleeson

Collingwood have agreed to a trade giving up a future first round pick, a second round pick, John Noble and Joe Richards for Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston. There might be a pick or two in the 50’s or 60s coming to Collingwood.

“We’d like to (keep a high draft pick), and that’s probably where the arm wrestle comes in,” Collingwood list manager Justin Leppitsch said on Friday.

“Give up all your draft hand for one player, or go a different tact? That’s where it’s going to come down to for us ... we can not let it cost us our future. It’s a very fine balance. We’re respecting that, and we know the value of that, but the future of the footy club is most important.“

What about future first rounders?

By Peter Ryan

Worth pointing out where the two future first rounders Gold Coast are getting are coming from: One is from Port Adelaide and one is from Collingwood. And from Jake Niall there is still quibbling about a late pick that means deal not yet finalised.

Eagles, Hawks in discussions

By Michael Gleeson

West Coast and Hawthorn discussing a deal for Tom Barrass involving the Hawks giving up two future first round picks and getting a future second-round pick back.

Effectively, therefore it would be a first rounder and a pick slide from first to second which might not be a big slide. Eagles could also look to split pick 3 possibly in trade with Carlton for 12 and 14 in order to do the Liam Baker deal.

‘Haggling being done’: McGowan

By Marc McGowan

Dan Houston is edging ever closer to becoming a Magpie in a three-club deal, but there is still some haggling being done.

Negotiations are ongoing, but if this trade eventuates, it will look something like below:

Collingwood receives: Dan Houston, 58

Port Adelaide receives: Jack Lukosius, Joe Richards and Rory Atkins, 13, 29, 50

Gold Coast receives: John Noble, 2 x future first-rounders, 39

Bombers ready to welcome new face

The Bombers now have enough points to snare academy star, Isaac Kako.

Weitering on why he inked new deal with the Blues

Pies, Suns and Power get moving in Houston deal

On what has been a terribly slow day of non-action, the wheels appear to be finally moving in a three-club deal which will see John Noble get his wish and head from Collingwood to the Gold Coast Suns, Port Adelaide rebounding defender Dan Houston head to the Magpies and Gold Coast forward Jack Lukosius link with the Power.

Nine’s Tom Morris has reported that Gold Coast’s Rory Atkins, who has a year remaining on his contract, appears also to be heading to the Power along with Joe Richards from Collingwood in the Lukosius deal. The Power may also accrue selections 13, 29 and a future third-rounder.

The next part of the deal would have the Magpies’ future first-round pick head to the Suns in exchange for prized pick 13, which would head to Port Adelaide in exchange for Houston. This would mean the Blues miss out on Houston, and likely take picks 12 and 14 to the national draft.

Atkins, 30, played only three games for the Suns this year, for a career tally of 138 career games.

Dockers confirm picks offered for Bolton

By Jon Pierik

Dockers football chief Joe Brierty has confirmed his club has offered selections 10 and 18 for Shai Bolton, but they won’t be upping this deal. However, the Dockers also have pick 11, and have put all three selections on the table in exchange for both Liam Baker and Bolton.

“From our point of view, we look at the talent of Shai and situation we’re in ... we feel like the offer is really strong for him,” Brierty told Trade Radio.

“Ultimately, we need to be responsible as a club and be balanced in our approach. We want to see Shai at our football club, and we feel like it’s a really strong offer.

“If both were looking to come into the club ... we’d love to have them both.”
