This item is Brisbane’s favourite food to have home-delivered

Burgers are Brisbane’s favourite food to have delivered, according to figures from the three top food delivery apps.
DoorDash, Menulog and Uber Eats data rates burgers as Brisbane’s top or second favourite meal item, while lattes and iced lattes are the most popular coffee orders.
Nick Dhanjee, 30, who works in human resources at South Bank, is a delivery app superuser, logging onto DoorDash at least three times a week.
Dhanjee orders coffee for himself and colleagues, as well as lunches, dinners and occasional groceries.
“A flat white is my most common order, but my little cheeky summer drink would be an iced caramel latte,” he says.
Dhanjee mostly uses the apps at work “because I’m in meeting after meeting”.
“To go and get lunch can be quite a task,” he said.
“I’ll order poke bowls or sushi, on the healthy side, but I do delve into the chips and burgers, mostly on the weekends.”
Fast food dominates food delivery across the nation. Rory Murphy, commercial director of Menulog, said Brisbane’s top choice of burgers matched the company’s findings for Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Chips and burgers also topped DoorDash’s data in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin.
For grocery deliveries via the apps, DoorDash reported that bananas and milk were the most commonly ordered items, while bread and milk topped Menulog’s list.
Beer was the most ordered alcoholic beverage on Uber Eats and Menulog but came third on DoorDash behind vodka and dry white wine.
Uber Eats figures show that while beer was the most popular order from bottle shops in Brisbane, NSW customers favoured sauvignon blanc, while in Victoria, pinot noir was king.
DoorDash’s latest annual trend report indicated that late-night food orders (midnight-5am) were up 107 per cent, while breakfast orders (5am-11am) grew by 58 per cent.
DoorDash also found that Brisbane’s taste for iced lattes put it at odds with Sydney and Melbourne, where users preferred the regular kind.
Queensland residents spend an average of $51 a week on food delivery, the lowest of the states (excluding Tasmania and the territories), according to a 2023 survey by consumer review site Canstar Blue. At $72 a week, NSW residents spend the most.
Meal delivery services are most popular among Millennials and Gen Z, Roy Morgan research has found.
