Something for the long weekend: How to bake RecipeTin Eats’ not-so-humble pies
In the culinary world, a pithivier is a magnificent French pastry steeped in history. But when I’m asked, I simply describe it as an inverted meat pie with a gravy hole. Considered difficult to construct (and with a price tag to match), it’s actually something anyone can make without fancy equipment. OK, these are a little more rustic-looking than the stunning versions made by pastry masters, but they’re just as delicious. Choose from the three savoury fillings, then follow my step-by-step assembly guide. (Each recipe makes two pies and each pie serves two people.)
