Seven last-minute Melbourne Food & Wine Festival events you should not miss
Melbourne Food and Wine Festival energises the city again from March 24 until April 2. The good news is there are still tickets available to events of all sizes and price points. Here are some of Good Food’s picks.
Brace yourself for the Bangkok Street Food Festival (March 31), with bites from locals Soi 38, BKK and Dodee Paidang, plus street stall Phed Mark, straight from Thailand. The pad krapao specialist’s other event has sold out, so this will be your only shot at trying one of Phed Mark’s famously fiery stir-fries.
If cheese is more your speed, Ellie and Sam Studd (children of cheese aficionado Will Studd) will showcase four of their favourite examples, from bold to creamy, in dishes paired with Shadowfax Wines (April 1).
Sustainability in a bowl is the ethos of Rubbish Ramen (March 27-29), as Tokyo Tina puts to good use food that might otherwise be wasted, creating two tasty noodle soups in the process.
One of Victoria’s most ambitious farm-to-table restaurants, O.My, is collaborating with our most ambitious cocktail bar, Byrdi, for unparalleled drinks and snacks that celebrate the hyperseasonal and local (March 28-29). A wander around Ascot Vale (March 30) will take in everything from Turkish grilling at Komur to Sicilian street food at Portobello, and more. Land meets sea when Audrey’s cruises into town from Sorrento, setting up shop at Fitzroy North steakhouse Cinder for a menu of top-notch surf and turf (March 28-29).
