Car fire blocking busy road
5.45pm
POLICE are on the scene of a vehicle fire on New Town Rd, New Town near Woolworths.
The road is blocked in both directions and traffic is being diverted at Risdon Rd and Roope St.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area whilst the scene is clear.
No injuries have been reported.
Ashley Youth Detention Centre alleged escape

Tasmania Police have confirmed a 17-year-old male who allegedly escaped from the Ashley Youth Detention Centre last night has been charged.
He was detained to appear before the Youth Justice Court this morning on escape and carjacking charges.

Prisoner escapes from Ashley Youth Detention Centre
8.30pm
POLICE have arrested a young man following an alleged escape at Ashley Youth Detention Centre tonight.
Police responded to a report of a youth allegedly escaping custody at the centre near Deloraine about 7.15pm.
Police quickly responded and located the youth hiding in bushes nearby a short time later.
Investigations into the incident are underway.

Mutli-car crash in Moonah
6.40pm
Police have advised the crash on Main Rd, Moonah is now clear, with no injuries.
6.15pm
POLICE are asking motorists to steer clear of Main Rd, Moonah after a multi-car pileup.
At this stage injuries are unknown, but the road is closed between Creek and Albert roads.
