A 16-year-old accused of murdering Taroona father Reid Ludwig has made a brief appearance in court.

A TEENAGE boy accused of murdering a Taroona father at a petrol station last year has made a brief appearance in court.

Reid Ludwig was returning a trailer to the Coles Express petrol station in Blackmans Bay when he was allegedly stabbed in front of his family during a minor altercation on November 24. He later died in the Royal Hobart Hospital.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.

The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in the Supreme Court in Hobart before Justice Helen Wood via video link from the Ashley Youth Detention Centre on Friday afternoon.

The boys lawyer Rochelle Mainwaring said a specialist report had been received earlier this week, but further clarification was needed, which may take 4-6 weeks.

The Crown prosecutor said it was “very disappointing” having waited more than four months for the report that it did not address all issues.

“The Crown had hoped to list the matter for trial in November – I can’t stress enough the anguish this further delay is causing, particularly to the family [of the alleged victim],” she said.

Justice Wood adjourned the matter until October 15 and the youth was remanded in custody.
