YOUNG staff members at a Launceston takeaway pizza restaurant have been left shaken after two armed men demanded they hand over cash.
The two suspects entered Domino’s on Hobart Road in Kings Meadows about 9.30pm on Sunday.
Detective Inspector Craig Fox said one of the men was armed with a knife and the other was armed with a gun.
“The staff are traumatised … they were only young,” he said.
“From what I understand they handled themselves well, they were compliant and no one got injured.
“I feel for those staff members, as most the community would, and believe they’ve been offered counselling.”
Inspector Fox said the fact the duo left the store with only a small amount of money was “irrelevant” given the impact the crime would have on the victims and wider community.
Shortly after midnight on Monday a vehicle was intercepted in the Waverley area and a 22-year-old man was taken into custody.
The police investigation is continuing and he is yet to be formally charged.
The offending males were described as being in their early 20s and were both dressed in dark clothing, including hoodies and face coverings.
“We have a number of people that we wish to speak to that we are trying to track down at the moment, but I want to go into any details about who they are,” Inspector Fox said.
