Metro Tasmania CEO Megan Morse announces resignation

The chief executive officer of the largest public transport provider in the state has announced her resignation from the role.

METRO Tasmania CEO Megan Morse has resigned after three and a half years in the top job.

Metro chair Tim Gardner acknowledged the contribution Ms Morse has made as CEO and previously general manager of business improvement services.

“Megan came into Metro to lead the company’s delivery of the Hobart Network Review, a highly successful project that has resulted in major service improvement and patronage growth,” he said.

“Since taking on the CEO role, Megan has overseen the smooth introduction of locally manufactured buses into Metro’s fleet, secured State Government funding for next generation ticketing technology, guided the review into a River Derwent ferry service and, most recently, overseen Metro’s share of the Launceston Network Review.

“Megan has also demonstrated a great commitment to the company and very personal concern for our people, something I have experienced first-hand while spending time with Megan in the workplace.”

METRO BUS FARE REDUCTION FOR CONCESSION HOLDERS

On behalf of the Metro board and employees, Mr Gardner wished Ms Morse the very best for the future and thanked her for her leadership of the organisation.

Ms Morse will finish work with Metro on March 22, at which point Metro general manager operations, Darren Carey, will step into the role of Acting CEO until further notice.
