Alleged Bandidos bikie boss to stand trial for drug trafficking

AN ALLEGED Bandidos bikie boss will stand trial in Hobart’s Supreme Court later this year over allegations of drug trafficking.

On Thursday, Dover man Fahed Elniz, 45, appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court, where he pleaded not guilty to trafficking in a controlled substance and supporting a criminal organisation.

Tracy Elniz, also of Dover, also pleaded not guilty to one count of trafficking.

The 44-year-old woman also pleaded not guilty to a number of summary offences, including four counts of making a false or misleading statement and one count of dishonestly intending to cause a loss.

Mr and Mrs Elniz were arrested in June this year after more than 60 police officers swarmed Dover as part of a crackdown on the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle club.

The raid at the tiny township just south of the Huon Valley earlier this year involved local police, the Australian Federal Police and the National Anti-Gang Squad.

At the time, Tasmania Police said the swoop followed a six-month investigation into the club.

Search warrants were executed at a Dover household, a business and several fishing vessels at the marina.

Mrs and Mrs Elniz, who are both on bail, have been committed to stand trial at the Supreme Court on November 16.

Mrs Elniz will return to the Hobart Magistrates Court on November 19 for her summary matters.
