A former champion Tasmanian bodybuilder who won a prestigious competition in 2015 has been charged with common assault.

Longford man Tyler James Enniss, 35, appeared in Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday on the single charge.

Police allege Mr Enniss pushed a person to the chest in Deloraine on February 11.

Mr Enniss was granted an adjournment to a later date to obtain legal advice as it was the first mention of his charge.

Mr Enniss is a former champion bodybuilder who was crowned ‘Mr Tasmania’ in 2015 after he claimed top going in the Men’s Open Division of the International Natural Bodybuilding Association Tasmanian State Championships.

He also placed first in the Men’s 75kg Plus division.

After winning, Mr Enniss told newspaper publisher ACM it was only his second ever competition and he had also been impeded by his recovery from a torn bicep.

On social media in 2017, Mr Enniss told his followers he had completed a Cert IV in Fitness and could “tailor a training protocol to suit your ability level and opportunities for growth”.
