UPDATED: A young ice-addicted Tasmanian mother-of-two will remain behind bars until November at the earliest, after she was sentenced on more than 65 charges including assaulting a woman with a mailbox she'd ripped from its support.

Launceston woman Skye Christina Harris, 25, who also maintains addresses in Hobart, was sentenced in Launceston Magistrates Court late Wednesday afternoon to 15 months' imprisonment.

She will be eligible for parole after serving 10 months.

The sentence was backdated to January 9 this year, the date she was remanded in custody.

EARLIER: A troubled, young, ice-addicted Tasmanian mum-of-two racked up nearly 70 offences in the space of a year, repeatedly flogging top-shelf booze and clothing, hitting the ice pipe and getting behind the wheel, and once pulling a letterbox from a stake and using it to assault a woman.

Launceston woman Sky Christina Harris, 25, who also maintains addresses in Hobart, pleaded guilty in Launceston Magistrates Court on Tuesday to 69 offences, committed between February last year and her remand in custody on February 9 this year.

They included dozens of driving offences, especially driving with methamphetamine and speed in her system and driving unlicensed, drug offences, property offences and one count each of common assault and injuring property.

The common assault occurred on November 13 last year at an address at Prossers Forest Rd, Ravenswood, with the victim known to Harris.

Harris asked to borrow money from the woman, who refused, before the conversation became increasingly heated as both accused the other of spreading malicious rumours, the court heard.

Harris then spat in the face of her victim, pulled the residence’s letterbox off its stake, and threw it at the hapless woman, who was struck in the arm and sustained grazes.

The defendant also repeatedly stole grog, perfume and clothes from Launceston businesses, the court was told.

They included the 9/11 Bottleshop Newstead, Chemist Warehouse Newnham, Chemist Warehouse Mowbray, The Good Guys Launceston, Cellarbrations Kingston, Kathmandu Launceston and Toyworld Launceston.

It was submitted on Harris’ behalf she had a troubled upbringing which had continued into adulthood, with her suffering at the hands of multiple domestically violent partners, one of whom launched her head into the front of a toilet bowl, shattering all her front teeth.

She is a mother of two young children and worked at a Cressy berry farm.

The court was told she had endured a series of family tragedies, including the death of a young niece in 2020 and the death of her sister’s partner and wounding of her sister in a double murder-suicide in November last year.

Harris had the support of family, was receiving counselling and remained drug free behind bars, the court heard.

Her sentence was adjourned part-heard to April 20 to allow Magistrate Simon Brown to consider his verdict.
