Police have confirmed that remains found near a walking track in the state’s North East are those of missing teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell.

Tasmania Police found the body at Nabowla, about 10km east of Scottsdale, last Wednesday following an intensive search involving more than 180 personnel.

The results were confirmed by DNA testing.

The 14-year-old was last seen alive in Launceston on April 30.

Scottsdale man Christopher Mark Jordan, 36, was last week arrested and charged with Shyanne-Lee’s murder.

Police said their thoughts were with Shyanne-Lee’s family.

‘I couldn’t save you or protect you’: Mum’s heartbreak over Shyanne-Lee

The mother of Burnie teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell has shared a heartbreaking tribute in the wake of her daughter’s likely remains being found and a man being charged with her murder, saying her “wings were ready for heaven but my heart was not.”

Bobbi-Lee Ketchell posted the tribute publicly to social media late on Friday night and wrote “I cannot explain my heartache and pain right now.”

It comes as a 36-year-old Scottsdale man charged with the teen’s murder made his first appearance in court on Friday, one day after his arrest.

Christopher Mark Jordan, 36, appeared in the dock before Magistrate Sharon Cure in Launceston Magistrates Court on Friday morning, and remained expressionless during the brief mention.

He will remain in police custody until his next appearance, via videolink, on August 16.

On Wednesday, Tasmania Police launched Northern Tasmania’s largest search in decades, featuring 180 personnel from agencies including SES, Qld Police, NSW Police, the Australian Federal Police, and volunteers, seeking clues as to the teenager’s disappearance.

What are believed to be the 14-year-old’s remains were discovered off a bush track near Bridport Back Rd on Wednesday evening by a person searching on foot.

Ms Ketchell, who has previously opened up to the Mercury on her suffering over her then- missing daughter, said she had already lost a child and was “fearing the worst.”

In her post on Friday, Ms Ketchell said “heaven has now gained two of my beautiful children.”

“Their wings were ready but my heart was not. My baby girl I will stay strong and continue to be your voice, protecting you was something I couldn’t do or save you,” she wrote.

“I am blessed I was your mum and you are coming home to me, just not the way I hoped.

“Part of my heart went with you it will never be whole again, ️you will be dancing and hugging your brother watching over us this I know.

Ms Ketchell then said “it’s not goodbye, I will one day hold you both in my arms again.”

Her son Xavier died in 2012 after a battle with a medical condition.
