A trial may be held in March next year for a South Hobart man accused of murdering his acquaintance more than three years ago.

Shaun James Scott, 43, appeared briefly in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on Monday, charged with the November 2020 murder of Bradley Paul Wolf.

Mr Scott has previously pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Wolf in a South Hobart unit complex in Livingston Street unit, off Huon Road.

Police alleged Mr Scott killed Mr Wolf by striking his head with a metal object.

On Monday, Justice Helen Wood heard both sides were still waiting on a report before the case could go ahead.

A Crown prosecutor noted the case had been “adjourning all year for this purpose”.

She said the case may be listed for trial in March 2024.

Mr Scott, who is in custody, will return to court via video link on February 5 next year.
