Major delays have held up the case of a South Hobart man accused of murder.

In November 2020, Shaun James Scott pleaded not guilty to the murder of his acquaintance Bradley Paul Wolf.

Police allege Mr Scott killed Mr Wolf by striking his head with a metal object in his Livingston Street unit, off Huon Road.

On Tuesday, the court heard the parties were still waiting on a report before the case could go ahead.

Mr Scott, 42, appeared in court on Tuesday via video link.

Lawyers told Chief Justice Alan Blow they were awaiting a report, but didn’t know how long it would take and that the doctor “wasn’t able to give an indication” of a timeframe.

Chief Justice Blow remanded Mr Scott in custody to reappear in court on June 10 for a further directions hearing.

Police at the time said Mr Wolf had been staying for several days with Mr Scott, who they allege he had known for some time.
