An arrest warrant has been issued for a young woman charged over a fatal road crash at Copping.

A fortnight ago, Storm Cecilia Tientjes, 26, was granted bail in the Supreme Court of Tasmania following a Good Friday tragedy that claimed the life of a woman on the Arthur Highway.

Ms Tientjes’ case was listed for a plea in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday, but she failed to appear when called – and also could not be contacted when a defence lawyer attempted to phone her.

Chief Magistrate Catherine Geason said she was concerned Ms Tientjes was a flight risk, and issued a warrant for her arrest.

Ms Tientjes has not yet entered pleas to a number of charges dating back to April 7 this year, including causing death by dangerous driving.

According to court documents, she is also charged with driving without holding a driver’s licence, dishonestly altering or displaying a plate in a way calculated to deceive, using an unregistered motor vehicle, and failing to comply with the taking of blood for analysis.

Ms Tientjes also faces several other charges including headbutting a female police constable to the face the day after the fatal crash, and a drug driving charge from earlier this year.

The Mercury previously reported the fatal crash occurred following a two-vehicle crash between a white MG SUV and a Toyota Camry.

The male driver of the MG suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Ms Tientjes, and her female passenger, were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
