A young woman charged over a fatal Good Friday crash on a Tasmanian highway in which one woman died has been granted bail.

Storm Cecilia Tientjes, 26, this week appeared self-represented from custody in the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

Tientjes is facing multiple charges arising from a two-vehicle crash on April 7 on the Arthur Highway at Copping, in which a female passenger of a white MG SUV died.

A man, who had been the driver of the MG, was left with minor injuries and was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Tientjes, who is alleged to have been the driver of the second car, a Toyota Camry – as well as a female passenger – were also taken to RHH with minor injuries.

As a result of the crash, a section of highway near Blue Hills Rd was closed for several hours.

Tientjes is facing charges of causing death by dangerous driving, drive while not the holder of a driver licence, dishonestly alter or display a plate in a way calculated to deceive, use unregistered motor vehicle, and fail to comply with a requirement for the taking of blood for analysis.

Each charge stems from April 7.

She is also charged with assault of a police officer, alleged to have occurred on April 8.

Court documents allege Tientjes headbutted a female officer to the face.

Tientjes is also charged with several traffic-related offences dating back to March and October, 2022.

These include driving while not holding a licence, and failing to have proper control of a vehicle – alleged to have occurred at Pelican Sands Carpark at Scamander.

In addition, she is charged with driving a motor vehicle while a prescribed illicit drug is present in oral fluid – which court documents allege was meth and THC – and driving without a licence.

Both charges are alleged to have occurred on March 12, 2022 at Lymington Rd in Cygnet.

For her most recent charges, Tientjes first appeared in Hobart Magistrates Court during an after-hours session on Saturday April 8.

She is yet to enter pleas to the charges.

Her bail was granted and she will next appear in court in May.
