An alleged Bandidos bikie boss and two associates may finally stand trial next month over a conspiracy charge, some three years after a major federal police and gang squad raid.

Fahed Elniz, 48, and Tracy Elniz, 47, were both arrested in June 2020 when more than 60 police officers swarmed the sleepy Huon Valley township of Dover, as part of a crackdown on the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle club.

Tasmania Police, Australian Federal Police and the National Anti-Gang Squad were all involved in the raid.

On Tuesday, Crown prosecutor Heather Denton told the Supreme Court of Tasmania that Mr and Mrs Elniz, as well as co-accused Nicholas Samuel Jordan, 25, were all jointly charged with conspiracy to traffick, and it was hoped they would stand trial in the court’s October sittings.

She said the trial was expected to run over two weeks.

Mr and Mrs Elniz were each dialled into court by telephone.

Mr Elniz said he’d found a barrister for the upcoming trial, but was “having a real hard time” finding an instructing solicitor.

Mrs Elniz said she was also in the process of finding a barrister.

The pair was bailed to reappear in court on September 18 for a further update before the trial.

Mr Jordan appeared in court in person, with Justice Geason hearing he would be represented by a Legal Aid lawyer.

Mr Jordan, who is also on bail, will return to court on October 16.

At the time of the Dover raid, Tasmania Police said the swoop followed a six-month investigation into the Bandidos.

Search warrants were executed at a Dover household, a business and several fishing vessels at the marina.
