A drunk woman was busted twice by police in less than 12 hours - including once with her two young children in the car.

Around 9.30pm on Thursday, the 33-year-old Tranmere woman was pulled over by police after she ran a red light at the Oceana Drive and South Arm Highway intersection.

Police say she had two young children in the car.

The woman blew a reading of 0.219 and was immediately disqualified from driving for two years and bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Twelve hours later at 9am on Friday, the same woman was pulled over in the same area as the night before.

Tasmania Police Inspector Andrew Keane said he was “disappointed and frustrated”.

“Despite repeated warnings, some members of the public continue to ignore the drink driving laws and put themselves, their family and the rest of the community at risk of serious harm or death,” Insp Keane said.

He said the behaviour “will not be tolerated”.

“Our message cannot be clearer – you cannot drive safely if you have been drinking. If you want to drink alcohol, then do not drive,” he said.
