Brazen car break-in spree in family-friendly suburb

A POLICE investigation has been sparked after a car break-in spree in a family-friendly suburb of Hobart.

Shocked residents woke on Friday morning to see three cars in a row had been broken into overnight on South Hobart’s Fitzroy Crescent.

The cars’ windows had all been smashed in and glass was scattered across the roadway.

One resident, who took video at the scene, told the Mercury he would be hesitant to park on the street in the future.

“It’s a nice area with a lot of families and it came as a bit of a shock really,” he said.

“I called the police when I saw the cars at around 9am and they said they were already investigating.

“I’ll definitely think twice about street parking now.”

Tasmania Police confirmed they were investigating the break-ins, and ask anyone with information to come forward on 131 444 or via Crime Stoppers.

Information can be reported anonymously.
