iPhone 8 rumoured to feature curved screen made by Apple’s arch-enemy Samsung
APPLE has a major change expected to come to its new iPhone, but to pull it off the company has to get in bed with its arch rival.
THE iPhone 8 is expected to feature a stunning curved display built by Apple’s arch-enemy Samsung, it has been claimed.
Whispers emanating from the darkest depths of the iRumour mill suggest the top secret smartphone will be fitted with a beautiful bendy display made from plastic, rather than glass.
This screen is expected to be made from organic light emitted diodes (OLED), which means it will offer users improved picture quality at the same time as being thinner and lighter than traditional screens.
The as yet unconfirmed rumour was published in the Korea Herald and comes from sources within Apple’s Far East supply chain.
The newspaper also suggested the curved screen will feature sensors that “enable the phone to respond when users touch any side of the device”, offering new ways to interact with it.
If true, it could prove that previous Apple rumours are not true, particularly tittle-tattle which suggested only more expensive models of iPhone 8 would feature the OLED screen.
Here’s what the Apple experts at Mac Rumours said about the latest piece of iGossip: “Multiple sources have claimed Apple is planning a 5.5-inch ‘premium’ version of its 2017 iPhone with an OLED screen alongside new models with traditional LCD displays, but today’s report underlines Apple’s intention to use a curved screen similar to that found in Samsung’s Galaxy S7, which has been described as having the best smartphone display on the market.”
