Apple continues smartphone war to Google with new video advert campaign across social media
WITH more than 81 per cent of the world’s smartphones using Google’s software, Apple has launched a second attack to get people to switch to iPhone.
APPLE is continuing its all-out assault on Android as it attempts to get people to make the switch the iPhone.
The tech giant’s latest attempt to attract new customers is a collection of new video adverts reminiscent of Apple’s iconic ‘I’m a Mac, I’m a PC’ campaign, which mercilessly mocked the performance of Microsoft’s Windows.
The five online ads, each around 15 seconds long, outline why an iPhone offers a better experience than Android.
To hammer this point home, each ad focused on a different issue Apple feels consumers would worry about including security, performance, speed and transferring photos.
While the ads won’t run on TV, you can expect to see them on YouTube and other social media platforms.
The campaign is the latest attack from Apple, with the company launching a website dedicated to persuading people using an Android phone to make the switch.
Surfacing in May, the website provocatively titled “Switch from Android” explores similar issues raised in the latest video campaign.
In addition to camera quality, speed and customer support, the website tries to make hay out of Google’s dubious smartphone security record.
“Unlike many other phones, important data on your iPhone is encrypted from the start and protected by your passcode,” the Apple website reads.
“Apple apps like Maps and Safari help to keep private all the places you go and the sites you visit, and Apple will not sell your information to anyone for any reason.”
The tech giant’s efforts come as research firm Gartner discovered more than 81 per cent of the world’s smartphones use Google’s software, while only 18 per cent run Apple’s system.
