Melbourne man David Le charged over $2m ice find

A Melbourne man has appeared in court after allegedly having two kilograms of ice in his car when he arrived in Tasmania by ship.

A 29-year-old man from Melbourne has appeared in court in Devonport after allegedly having two kilograms of methylamphetamine (ice) in his car when he arrived in the state by ship.

David Le appeared in the Devonport Magistrate’s Court via video link from the Launceston Remand Centre.

Tasmania Police claim the drugs found in Mr Le’s vehicle have a street value of around $2 million.

Police say the drugs were discovered after a routine check at the Spirit of Tasmania on Sunday.

Mr Le has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

He has not entered a plea

He was remanded in custody to reappear in court on December 17.
