IT was a day of fierce competition and excitement at the Hutchins War Memorial Oval, where the Sports Association of Tasmanian Independent Schools Australian rules grand finals took place.
Hutchins director of sport Jason Berry said there was a very high standard of football on the field, where both Hutchins 2nd XVIII and Fahan were defeated by Scotch Oakburn.
Despite the losses, both Hutchins and Fahan were very proud of their players.
“We’re really proud of the way the boys conducted themselves and fought the game out to the end,” Mr Berry said.
Scotch Oakburn 12.8 (80) beat Hutchins at 7.11 (53) while Fahan 0. 1 (1) lost to Scotch Oakburn 10. 14 (74).
Fahan head of school sports department Jo Banks-Smith said unfortunately Scotch Oakburn dominated Fahan from the beginning.
“But they were happy to be out there and they were really happy to be part of the day,” she said.
