While the men grab the headlines, the juniors and women kick the long weekend off with a bang on Friday with some thrilling football from morning through to evening.
We take a look at some of the junior boys, girls and senior women who are set to shine in Bathurst.

He is a great young leader and everyone around him just loves playing alongside him. A rising young player with abundant of potential.

This kid doesn’t look like much but he has the heart of a lion and is a very talented young man. One of the most talented young players officials have seen, he shows no fear and will run the ball up just as hard if not harder than a forward. When Quinton and Zachariah combine on the field it’s a very special moment it’s like watching two professional NRL players that have been playing together for years. A co-captain at Quakers Hill.

Plays for the Gilgandra Panthers and is co-captain of the side. The side is a memorial team for his and Zachariah’s nans (Joan Willie and Cynthia Peckham, also known as Powell). Both are playing for their grandmothers. Ezekiel has it all to become an NRL player with his speed and hard hitting in defence. Could prove to be one of the most exciting young players at the event.

Lucas; determination and strength to do his job in the middle and get everyone up and going and shape held will work wonders on game day. He’s gone from not knowing any of the boys to showing his knowledge and leadership. Makes plenty of metres to help the backs run amok.

His sly little movements and amazing ball return skills will set the boys up. He hits the line at good angles to be able to attack a ball at speed with pressure and do what he does. If an opposition player is to break the line against their defensive line he’s likely to save a try.

Can really stand up and make people take notice this tournament. The Western City Tigers junior scored an incredible 38 tries this season, including a hat-trick to help her team win the U14s grand final.

The daughter of former Rabbitohs fullback Roy Bell and trailblazer Kira Dargin — the first Indigenous woman to debut in the Women’s Football Alliance (Womens NFL) — Alaiela embodies a legacy of excellence and determination in sport. Her ability to create holes in the defence is remarkable. With a keen eye for openings, she can quickly identify weaknesses in her opponents, exploiting them with precision and speed. They’ve been together every step of the way since their younger years and include Ameria Simon, Tayami Simon, Yarilla Welsh, Birri Welsh and Amali Gordon who will all proudly represent their local community.
