WWE Elimination Chamber 2024 Match Card

WWE has yet to announce the complete match card for Elimination Chamber 2024, so be sure to check back here before February 24.

1. CONFIRMED: Men’s Elimination Chamber Match

Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton have both qualified for the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match. The match will decide the number-one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, currently held by an injured Seth Rollins. Drew defeated AJ Styles on Smackdown thanks to interference from LA Knight, while Randy Orton demolished a passionate Sami Zayn, putting him away with an RKO. Bobby Lashley has also qualified for the match after defeating Bronson Reed, as well as LA Knight who defeated Ivar of the Viking Raiders. Only two spots remain.

2. CONFIRMED: Women’s Elimination Chamber Match

Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley will take centre stage defending her title inside the Elimination Chamber against five other women, including Becky Lynch, who defeated former MMA fighter Shayna Baszler on Raw to qualify. Bianca Belair is also confirmed for the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match after she defeated Michin on Smackdown. Liv Morgan will also be joining them inside the chamber after she defeated Zoe Stark on Raw.

More qualifying matches are set to take place on Raw and Smackdown, with Naomi vs. Zelina Vega and Shotzi vs. Tiffany Stratton (plus one more match yet to be announced) all vying for the final spots in the match.

3. CONFIRMED: The Judgement Day vs. British Strong Style for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles

While we were incorrect in predicting an Awesome Truth reunion between The Miz and R-Truth for Elimination Chamber (still holding out for Wrestlemania), we’re still very excited to see Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate, who defeated Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa for a shot at tag team gold in Perth.

4. CONFIRMED: Rhea Ripley vs. Nia Jax for the Women’s World Title

With Iyo Sky vs. Bayley now official for Wrestlemania 40, it’s unlikely the champ will face anyone else before the Showcase of the Immortals. Our girl, Rhea, however, needs a new challenger to make her look strong before Mania. So it’s no wonder this match was booked by Monday Night Raw General Manager, Adam Pearce.

5. PREDICTION: Gunther defends his Intercontinental Championship against Jey Uso

‘Main Event’ Jey Uso answered the call on February 6 after Gunther claimed there was no one left to face him after 600 plus days as the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion beating former record holder The Honky Tonk Man. Then, following a tag team match on February 13, the former Bloodline member was given a one-on-one with the Ring General for the February 20 episode of Raw. With interference almost guaranteed from Imperium, we’re pretty certain these two will take the feud to Perth. YEET!

6. PREDICTION: Logan Paul defends his United States Championship

The Maverick confirmed he’d be competing in Perth at Elimination Chamber, but it’s anyone’s guess who he’ll defend the title against, if he even defends it at all. Whoever does step up to Logan Paul, you can bet Kevin Owens will get involved somehow to avenge his DQ loss at the Royal Rumble due to a misplaced pair of brass knuckles.

What is the Elimination Chamber?

The Elimination Chamber is a thrilling elimination-based cage match in the WWE featuring multiple combatants. The ring is enclosed in a large, chain-linked steel structure with steel grates between the ring and cage pods, plus four glass pods on each corner.

It’s a match that delivers intense showdowns, brutal punishment, innovative offence and the chance to upset the current trajectory of the WWE title scene.

Match Rules

Two Superstars start the match inside the ring, while the remaining four are enclosed in glass pods at each corner of the chamber.

Then, every five minutes, a pod will open at random, releasing another Superstar into the fray. The battle continues until all competitors have entered, with elimination only possible through pinfall or submission. The last participant standing claims victory.

History of the Elimination Chamber

Following in the footsteps of Pat Patterson, the inventor of the Royal Rumble match, Paul ‘HHH’ Levesque (Triple H) devised the Elimination Chamber in 2002. However, many attribute its creation to Eric Bischoff, who formally introduced the revolutionary cage match on Monday Night Raw.

Since its inaugural appearance at the Survivor Series that same year, there have been 32 Elimination Chamber matches. The 2024 edition marks the 14th Elimination Chamber event in WWE history and the company’s first Aussie event in six years since Super Show-Down in 2018. It’s also the third consecutive Elimination Chamber held outside the United States, demonstrating WWE’s new-found commitment to global audiences.

Elimination Chamber 2018 Redesign

In 2018, the Elimination Chamber structure evolved into a square design, departing from its circular origins. The pods followed suit, adopting sliding doors and a prominent WWE logo cutout at the top of the chamber. The steel grates between the ring and the cage were also replaced with padding to protect the wrestlers. That being said, the vicious steel chains that make the chamber what it is still remain.

Featured Superstars for WWE Elimination Chamber 2024

The star-studded line-up is sure to include many high-profile names, alongside trailblazing superstars like LA Knight (YEAH!), Main Event Jey Uso and a recently returning Naomi, who are ready to wow Aussie wrestling fans.

Some of the confirmed names for the event include the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes, recent winner of the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match after eliminating CM Punk, whose participation is uncertain due to an injury he sustained during the rumble match.

Logan Paul, the current United States Champion, is also set to face Kevin Owens in a rematch following a DQ finish that cost KO the match at the Rumble.

While Seth “Freakin” Rollins is the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, he too is out with injury, so his status for the show is up to his recovery.

And, of course, we can’t forget our hometown heroes, with Rhea Ripley, the Australian-born Women’s World Champion and the Sydney King himself, Grayson Waller.

The Undertaker will also be hosting his 1 DeadMAN Show on the eve of Elimination Chamber at Fremantle Prison, an intimate setting for the Phenom to share never-before-heard stories from his Hall of Fame career and take questions from the WWE Universe in attendance.

Behind the scenes of the WWE

As is often the case with professional wrestling, diehard fans are far more interested in what’s going behind the scenes than in the ring.

The last twelve months have brought a wild array of developments, though none more notable than Vince McMahon’s resignation following sexual allegations made against him and co-defendant John Laurinaitis by Janel Grant.

Notably, the 2022 Elimination Champion winner, Brock Lesnar, is unlikely to return to the ring following his association with serious allegations outlined in the Wall Street Journal regarding Vince McMahon’s sex trafficking lawsuit.

There is also tremendous speculation about Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s future involvement in the squared circle following his appointment to the UFC and WWE TKO Group board of directors and WWE’s groundbreaking $5 billion deal with Netflix – not to mention his epic stare-down with Roman Reigns on WWE Smackdown, which has caused quite a stir among professional wrestling fans and their hopes for the main event of Wrestlemania 40.

At the Wrestlemania 40 Kickoff Press Conference in Las Vegas, Cody Rhodes interrupted Roman Reigns and The Rock to make his true intentions known: “At Wrestlemania 40, in the Main Event, I choose you, Roman Reigns.”

Cody’s proclamation was met with a resounding slap from the People’s Champ himself, Dwayne Johnson, culminating in a chaotic conclusion to the press conference.

The next day, The Wise Man Paul Heyman told Triple H that Roman Reigns and The Rock would appear at Smackdown on February 17, setting the stage for another epic showdown.

Notable injuries inside the Elimination Chamber

The history of the Elimination Chamber is not without its share of injuries, from crushed throats to burning flesh.

Triple H’s throat was crushed after Rob Van Dam performed the Five Star Frog Splash off the top of one of the chambers in the inaugural Elimination Chamber match. Sheamus reportedly suffered a concussion during the Raw Elimination Chamber match in 2010.

Also in 2010, The Undertaker was involved in a pyrotechnics accident during his ring entrance and was temporarily engulfed in flames and suffered first and second-degree. Cleared by ringside doctors and dousing himself in bottles of water for almost 30 minutes, The Deadman still completed the match, taking home his World Heavyweight Championship title after pinning Chris Jericho.
