Perth’s Elimination Chamber has lost one of its biggest drawcards after former UFC fighter and WWE legend CM Punk tore his triceps over the weekend.

Punk was one of the biggest names revealed for the February 24 event at Optus Stadium but was ruled out after an injury the Royal Rumble on Sunday.

The 45-year-old will also miss WrestleMania XL in April but will instead be sidelined after he suffered the right triceps injury late in the fight.

Speaking on WWE Raw, an emotional Punk arrived with his right arm in a sling.

“I feel a little bit unlucky,” Punk said on WWE Raw with his right arm in a sling.

“In the course of the Rumble, I tore my right tricep and as much as I tried and asked maybe I can just tape it? Maybe I could make it to Elimination Chamber and I could try to win that and I could get my main event at WrestleMania? But it’s just not on the cards.

“I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me. Because when I think of this situation and how much it bums me out and how much I have talked from the highest mountains about how my goal and my dream ever since I was a little kid is to main event WrestleMania, maybe it’s just not going to happen.

“It’s a bump in the road … I’ve overcome adversity many times in the past.”

Aussie fans were devastated by the news.

It’s not the first time Punk has suffered a similar injury, having torn his left triceps in September 2022 while he competed for AEW, a blow which sidelined him for nine months.

The injury at the Royal Rumble came Punk competed on WWE for the first time in a decade, having been a former heavyweight champion before pursuing a career in the UFC.

While that was short lived, he was working as a special contributor and analyst before debuting through AEW in 2021.

The Elimination Chamber event will be the first in six years held in Australia.

One person who is going to be there is Aussie Grayson Waller.

Fresh off his explosive Sunrise interview, Waller promised news.com.au that there was "almost nothing I won't do to make sure people are talking about me”.

He also has no problem with being the heel.

“I’m not in the WWE to make friends. I’m in the WWE to make money and make myself the biggest person that the company has. I have no problems offending people and getting under people’s skin.

“That’s part of the fun. I enjoy it. I love being hated. I don’t being liked if that makes sense. It’s much more fun to be hated.

“This show, it might be a different reception being an Aussie boy, I’m interested to see how they act.”
