St. George Illawarra Dragons release ‘Fire and Ice’ jerseys for Las Vegas NRL opener
The Dragons have made a gamble with their first uniforms of the season, mixing red sponsor logos with casino-inspired imagery in their jerseys for the opening round in Las Vegas.
The Dragons are putting it all on red when they head to Vegas in 2026.
The club on Wednesday revealed its one-off jersey for their headline Round 1 game against the Bulldogs, with sponsors coming to a massive agreement to change their traditional colours to suit the all red and white “Fire and Ice” theme.
Main front of shirt sponsor Squadron Energy and sleeve sponsor Deicorp have diverted from their usual blue scheme to help create a cleaner overall look.
Investment group partner Remara has also done the same, while back of shirt sponsors TripADeal and Dynamoney rounded out the new red trim.
The club didn’t stop there, with a fiery video reveal also showing off a bunch of Vegas themed special additions.
A Red V Dragon casino chip features on the lower front of the jersey, as well as a pair of red dice on the lower back.
White lined stars will feature inside the jersey numbers, while on the inside of the rear neck will have coordinates 34.4285° S, 150.9025° E to 36.0909° N, 115.1833° W - from Wollongong to Allegiant Stadium.
Rounding things out is “an ace up their sleeve,” an Ace of Diamonds on the inside right bicep.
Fans online were instantly approving of the new look.
“Can this be our jersey full time plz,” @trademarksports said.
“Never ordered something so quickly in my life,” another said.
While Dragons fans were previously calling for names on the back of jerseys akin to the Bulldogs announcement last week, there was little chatter of the missing element.
The house always wins in Vegas, but Eagle eyed fans not so easily fooled may have already known some of these changes were coming.
The Dragons earlier teased their new look in a collaboration with retro rugby league Instagram account @retro_rugba_league.
The promotion featured the influencer creating a tower of red jumbo playing cards with focus on the ace of diamonds.
In true Vegas deceptive fashion, the cards seemed somewhat a distraction from the real reveal in the background, where a cut off jersey could be seen with a red Deicorp sleeve sponsor in place of the usual blue.
Another blink and you’ll miss moment also revealed the main front of shirt sponsor Squadron Energy likewise changed.
The full reveal now has fans more than excited ahead of the 2026 season.
