Sam Burgess and Lucy Graham have shared the first photos of their fairytale wedding day.
The happy couple tied the knot last weekend at a lavish Roman estate.
Graham shared photos of her and Sam together on Instagram on Monday night with congratulatory messages flooding in from former teammates and celebrities.
The 35-year-old Rabbitohs legend was dressed in a classic James Bond tux, while Graham, 32, dazzled with a plunging white gown that was completed with a traditional, flowing veil and a stunning train that dragged elegantly behind her.
Their special day in Italy has been a long time coming for the couple.
They were engaged in June, 2023, when Burgess propped the question during a romantic holiday to Fiji.
The pair announced they were pregnant with their first child in March, 2023, just months after they went public with their relationship.
They celebrated the birth of daughter Robbie in September, 2023.
The couple made sure Robbie was central in their celebrations this weekend in Rome, with photos showing the adorable couple holding their daughter as they were announced to guests as a married couple.
Images shared by photographers and guests show the couple partied the afternoon away on the lavish estate lawn before hitting the dance floor in the evening.
Wedding planning specialists Isla And Smith described the event in detail during an Instagram post congratulating the couple.
“A GRAND finale to our season of such beautiful, pure heartfelt joy in Rome for our loves @lcygrhm and @samburgess8,” the luxury events company posted.
“Layers & layers of creamy vanilla tones (from the historic villa to the vintage Rolls to the breathtaking @paulanadal_official gown) woven with deep Roman burgundy, crimson and pops of violet. And the insane atmosphere magic…just incredible.”
The post went on to say: “Thank you so much too, Luce & Sam, for being the most easy going couple to create for. Your humour & positive energy really did make it such a special celebration to be apart of”.
Guests included Burgess’ brothers George, Tom and Luke.
English rugby league great Wayne Godwin, NRL cult hero Adrian Morley and former Rabbitohs teammate Jason Clark were also on the guest list.
Burgess’ former Rabbitohs teammate Cody Walker was one of many to pass on his warm wishes for the couple.
“Congrats guys,” he wrote on Lucy’s Instagram post.
Channel 9’s Danika Mason wrote: “Best day”.
Sam’s sister-in-law Joanna Burgess commented: “‘S t u n n i n g g g g. So much love fam xxx”.
Tori May, who is married to Sam’s eldest brother Luke, wrote: “So beautiful. Congratulations, love you guys”.
Britney Theriot, the girlfriend of Russell Crowe — who part owns the South Sydney Rabbitohs — wrote: “Absolute perfection! You are stunning”.
Burgess began dating Graham, a hairdresser who has also had her own clothing brand, in 2022.
The couple had known each other for 20 years before they started dating.
Burgess separated from ex-wife Phoebe Burgess in 2019.
The divorced couple were married in 2015. They first separated in late 2018 before reconciling in early 2019. They split for good in October of that year and later divorced. The former couple share two children – daughter Poppy, 7, and son Billy, 5.
