Sam Burgess reveals huge personal news on breakfast TV

Sam Burgess has confirmed huge news about his private life after rumours he and his partner are celebrating their “beautiful” new family.

Sam Burgess has for the first time confirmed he and partner Lucy Graham have had their first child together.

The NRL great dropped the news during an interview on Channel 7’s Sunrise, reporting his partner and their new baby girl are doing well.

The couple have named their child Robbie, who arrived on Wednesday after a marathon labour, weighing in at 3.8kg, according to Burgess.

“Big news, little baby Robbie arrived earlier this week, grand final week we’re cheering,” he said on the breakfast TV show.

“I’m on very limited sleep, I’m getting used to that again.

“It’s been great and both mum and bub are doing well, all very happy here.”

Burgess also told The Saturday Telegraph: “It was a really, really long labour, it was hard going so I am just really happy and really relieved that everyone has come through safe and well.

“I’m so proud of Lucy, she did amazing. Both my girls are amazing,” he said.

Graham and Burgess in March confirmed they were expecting their first child and turned heads in July when she hosted a baby shower in Sydney.

Graham, who like Burgess is from the United Kingdom, moved to Australia recently in order to be with the former England and South Sydney Rabbitohs star.

Burgess has two other children with his former wife, Phoebe Hooke, who are four and three respectively.

Burgess began dating Graham, a hairdresser who has also had her own clothing brand, in 2022.

Phoebe Burgess in May said seeing photos of herself with her ex-husband Sam Burgess is a “slight trigger”.

She and the Rabbitohs player married in 2015, first separating in late 2018 before reconciling in early 2019. They split for good in October of that year and later divorced. The former couple share two children – daughter Poppy, 6, and son Billy, 4.

The rugby league star has recently been in the headlines for very different reasons after his sudden exit from the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

It was rumoured Burgess had become the senior figure in the club’s coaching staff, a situation that saw him clash with coach Andrew Demetriou.

His exit in the middle of the season saw speculation run wild with no bigger story than one involving club owner and Hollywood megastar Russell Crowe.
