2024 Dally M Awards: The green carpet with a difference

The NRL and NRLW’s biggest stars are walking the red, um green, carpet for the 2024 Dally M Awards. Check out their looks.

Dally M red carpet: NRL and NRLW players shine

You’d call it a red carpet with a difference - 2024 Dally M Awards organisers opted for a green grass-like rug for stars of rugby league to make their grand entrance.

The cream of the NRL and NRLW crop dressed their best as they were honoured at the glamour event at the Winx Stand at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse on Wednesday night.

Broadcast on Fox Sports, it was a celebration of the best players of the season.

And while known for their performance on the field, stars of the game did not disappoint in the fashion stakes.

Roosters second rower Olivia Kernick bought her House of CB dress a couple of days out from the awards.

“Me and the girls went shopping in the city and I just bought the first one I liked,” Kernick told Confidential.

”I like to go out and find my own (dress). I think if you look too hard to find the perfect dress it becomes a bit of a chore, so I just got the first one I liked.”

MJ Bale was a preferred suiting brand for the blokes, as was Politix.

Cronulla Sharks favourite Emma Tonegato meanwhile wore fleuoro green Christopher Esber she hired for the night.

“You gotta do what you gotta do,” she said.

Gold Coast Titans player Jaime Chapman wore Dressed By Jaz.

“I’m so excited and grateful to be here, to be nominated for some awards and recognised on and off the field is just amazing so I’m super grateful.”

Roosters prop Millie Elliott went with Karen Willis Holmes while teammate Isabelle Kelly had a gold gown custom-made by George Taleb Couture.

“I am really lucky to be able to put this beautiful dress on,” Kelly said.

Wests Tigers Captain Apisai Koroisau attended with wife Amy, who is 36 weeks pregnant.

“I feel amazing,” she said, wearing an Amy Taylor dress and Affinity Diamonds jewels.

Some of the NRL Dally M favourites include Melbourne Storm halfback Jahrome Hughes, Penrith lock Isaah Yeo, Roosters Captain James Tedesco and Canterbury skipper Stephen Crichton.

Penrith Panthers and Melbourne Storm will vie for the premiership in the NRL game on Sunday.

Gold Coast Titans star Jaime Chapman is a top contender for the NRLW Dally M, as are the likes of Newcastle Knights player Tamika Upton and Lauren Brown, also of the Titans.

“It would mean so much to me and obviously be really special but I think the Dally M will go to someone else more deserving,” the NSW Origin player from Sutherland told Confidential earlier in the week.

“I honestly don’t know how I would react (if I won), it would be the pinnacle of my football career so far. I don’t think that I am up there this year but hopefully in the very near future, I would love to have that opportunity to be a contender for the Dally M.”

Sharks superstar Emma Tonegato was looking forward to celebrating the season ahead of Sunday’s NRLW grand final against the Sydney Roosters.
