New-look teams and superstar players will be on show in 2024 with Netball SA and KommunityTV joining forces to live stream the Premier League competition for the third consecutive season.

The Hospital Research Foundation Netball SA Premier League will be showcased live each week by The Advertiser and KommunityTV as the state’s top young talent and certified stars clash for silverware.

The competition will be live streamed exclusively for the third season running, with an exclusive double header of back-to-back Premier League and Reserves games every weekend, as well as all finals.

Netball SA chief Bronwyn Klei said the deal was significant for the competition after a successful 2023 season.

“Being able to live stream our games is fantastic because it allows exposure to more people in SA who can’t make it to the stadium,” Klei said.

“We’ve got so many people involved in netball in South Australia so to be able to showcase the best talent in the state for them is fantastic.

“We had thousands of people tuning in last season so we’re hoping to build from that.”

The Premier League has had another big pre-season in 2024 with a number of list changes taking place and the pre-season premier division providing fans with a sneak peek of how even the competition could be this year.

Klei said the continued improvement of the competition and its clubs would be invaluable to netball in the state.

“I definitely think the competition will continue to even itself out and there are a couple of clubs in particular who aren’t too far behind Contax and Matrics,” Klei said.

“There has been some movement again this year and not just by players, with Amanda Shattock joining Matrics as coach, Peter Thomas taking over the coaching role at Oakdale and Leanne Cummins at Newton Jaguars.

“Developing the Premier League is everything. Most players will never get to play at the very top level but the majority of top players in the state can be found playing here at the stadium every Friday night.

“The competition has proved to be a really good pathway for players into that top level as well, with Tyler Orr becoming the seventh South Australian to go to the Thunderbirds from the Premier League.”

With the U17 and U19 National Netball Championships also being exclusively live streamed this week, Klei said she was thrilled to see SA’s top young talent showcased to the country.

“The talent we have in SA is phenomenal and it’s great to have these players on show for as many people as possible.

“We really punch above our weight in SA and it’s proof that our elite competition and the pathways it creates really work.”
