Lauderdale forwards dominate as Bombers send message to SFL competition

It took just 60 seconds for the Bombers to hit the scoreboard—and they never let up, steamrolling Kingborough in a ruthless performance which sent a message to the competition.

Lauderdale delivered a home-ground masterclass on Saturday, dismantling Kingborough from the opening bounce.

The Bombers claimed a massive 120-point victory at Lauderdale Oval thanks to forward trio Jack Dolliver, Ned Shaw and Sam Siggins all kicking four goals each with Lauderdale running out 23.15 (153) to 4.9 (33).

It took less than 60 seconds for the Bombers to kick the first goal followed up by the second just 90 seconds later as Lauderdale looked to ensure they made a statement to the competition.

The Bombers kept the Tigers goalless in the first and fourth quarters, holding a 52-point lead at the first break.

Kingborough’s first goal came at the 12 minute mark of the second quarter, it was one of three with the other two coming in red time to close the gap to 51-points at the main break.

It was a third quarter dominance by the Bombers who piled on 10.4 to 1.4 to extend the lead to 105 points a the final break.

Lauderdale ruckman Andrew Phillips showcased why he is arguably the best big man in the competition giving his midfielders first use of the ball and his ability to move up and down the ground.

The Tigers had four individual goal kickers with Tyler Carter, Pat Harnwell, Kieran Lovell and Julian Parker all kicking one each.

Lauderdale will now prepare for a clash with second placed Clarence who are coming off a 19-point win over Glenorchy.

The Bombers claimed a 17-point victory over the Roos in their round 1 clash with Siggins the difference with five goals.

The Roos, thanks to a five-goal game by Joshua Green, took the four-points as they claimed a 13.13 (91) to 11.6 (72) win over the Magpies.

Green now sits equal with Bombers captain Sam Siggins on 23 goals each at top of the goal kicking leaderboard with the two sides locking horns in round 6.

Magpies’ Baker Smith showed no signs of his leg injury, booting four majors as Glenorchy stayed within reach all game.

Clarence held a 14-point lead at the first break before kicking the first three goals in the second quarter to blow it out to a 33-point lead but the Magpies responded kicking four of the next five goals to trail by 15 at the main break.

The Roos gave themselves some breathing space in the third quarter kicking 4.4 to 2.3 to hold onto a 29-point lead at the final break.

The Magpies will travel to Pontville Oval to take on Brighton who are still chasing its first win this season.
