HUTCHINS and Guilford Young will renew their school rivalry in another Sports Association of Tasmanian Independent Schools cricket final from today.
The two southern powerhouses will meet in a third straight decider, with Guilford Young aiming to continue their dominance with a third straight title.
In their only encounter this season the school secured a four wicket win, with captain Sam Wright blasting 67-ball 76 to lead a successful 177 run chase.
“Last year was a very tight granny so hopefully we can go back to back,” Wright said.
“We’ve been pretty even throughout the year, probably our batting is our strength.”
Hutchins will be led into battle by Zac Phair, who will spend the next four days on the cricket pitch as he also prepares for University’s CTPL semi-final on the weekend.
But avenging last year’s SATIS defeat is the first focus.
“We are keen to get a bit of revenge for last year and get the win this year,” Phair said.
“It is still pretty serious, there is a strong culture with Hutchins cricket and it always means a lot to win a final with your schoolmates.”
