Trainer Bjorn Baker is keen to press on towards the Golden Eagle with Stefi Magnetica while fellow Warwick Farm-based mare Kimochi is set to bypass the $10m test at Rosehill Gardens.

Both mares lined up on last Saturday’s monster card at Royal Randwick with Stefi Magnetica one of two horses in The Everest that were eligible to hunt a $30m feature race double.

The daughter of All Too Hard, along with current Golden Eagle second elect Joliestar ($6), finished slightly worse than midfield in The Everest behind Bella Nipotina.

Stradbroke Handicap winner Stefi Magnetica has pulled up well from her toughest test to date and is now a $15 chance to win the Golden Eagle (1500m) on Saturday week.

“You’re only four once and her best form is around the 1400m so we are happy with her going into a Golden Eagle,” Baker said.

“She was beaten a couple of lengths but she went well (in The Everest).

“I just thought the race wasn’t run to suit particularly well, It was a little bit messy and definitely turned into a sprint home.

“From that point of view she wasn’t favoured.”

Kimochi was fourth in the $1m Silver Eagle on the same program where the Group 1 placed daughter of Brave Smash narrowly missed the placings.

Trainer Gary Portelli had originally planned to head to the Golden Eagle however the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) is on the same day at Flemington.

It was revealed late on Monday that Hong Kong-based star jockey Hugh Bowman has already been booked to pilot Kimochi after being granted permission by the Hong Kong Jockey Club to ride on Derby Day.

Kimochi, purchased for $2.2m earlier this year and raced by Yulong, is now a $15 chance for the Empire Rose Stakes.

Bowman was also confirmed as the rider for promising Keeneland in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) as well as smart sprinter Emirate in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m).
