DERBY’S famous mountain bike trails have attracted the world’s best riders, hosting a successful round of the Enduro World Series.
More than 400 riders from about 30 countries competed in the two-day event.
The pro men’s event was taken out by Belgium’s Martin Maes, followed by French rider Florian Nicolai and Australian Connor Fearon.
The pro women’s event was won by France’s Isabeau Courdurier, with American Jill Kitner in second and Australian Rowena Fry third.
Enduro World Series managing director Chris Ball said Derby’s trails and the welcome from the local community made it a world-class destination.
“The riders love it here and have travelled from all over the world to experience some of Derby’s trail network. Derby was the first venue to receive our Trail of the Year Award, and I’d say it’s in with a strong shout again this year,” Mr Ball said. “Mountain biking in Australia continues to grow, and it was incredible to see there was an Australian standing on every single one of our podiums this weekend.”
