Two men have escaped with non-life threatening injuries after being involved in a light plane crash in the North-East of the state.

TWO men have escaped with non-life threatening injuries after being involved in a light plane crash near George Town.

Tasmania Police said the crash happened at 4.40pm this afternoon.

Two males in their 60s were on board the plane at the time of the crash and have been transported to the Launceston General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the cause of the crash and Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified.
