Australian star Nicola Carey brings inside intel to Hurricanes’ charge

Star Hurricanes recruit, Australian all-rounder Nicola Carey, will bring more to the team than just wickets and runs.

BOOM recruit Nicola Carey is yet to play for the Hurricanes, but is already scouting her national teammates for her new side.

It is only one week before WWBL05 starts, introducing the first stand-alone women’s Big Bash.

The eight Big Bash clubs were represented at the season launch today at Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane with Hobart Hurricanes recruit Nicola Carey doing the duties for her new side.

Having played for Australia in the recent home series against Sri Lanka, Carey is yet to join the Hurricanes squad but the all-rounder is eager to meet her new teammates.

“I am really excited to get down there and get among the girls and see what that is all about,” Carey said.

“I think it is going to be a really exciting year.

“We’ve got some good recruits and some old faces who have been there for a few years, so I think we have a really good combination and I’m looking forward to it.”

The Hurricanes won only two games last season and finished bottom of the ladder but Carey, who has moved from the Sydney Thunder, is hopeful her and Hobart’s other new recruits can change that — and she has some inside intel to help her new team.

“It has been nice to spend some time in the nets against some of the girls we are going to come up against,” she said.

“In the back of my mind I’ve been working out a few plans for some of the girls so I've taken a lot from the past few weeks.”
