RUN the Bridge race director Richard Welsh hopes for a bumper turnout for the event after launching Australia’s richest 10km road race on Tuesday.
The $6000 purse will make it a terrific payday for winners on February 27, he said.
“The 2020 edition of the event was the largest fun run in Australia, before Covid-19 put the brakes on events globally,” Welsh said.
“It returned in 2021 with nearly 4000 participants across the four events.”
Course records were set at the 2021 edition in the 10km, which means the event’s “Battle of the Sexes” component has now been recalculated.
“Jack Rayner ran 28m28s, with Gen Gregson clocking 32.21, which means the head-start for the women has been reduced to 3m53s,” he said.
“The prizemoney has been increased for the first person across the line to $3000, in addition to the $3000 for first male and female.”
Run the Bridge consists of a 10km race, a 5kn run and 5km walk, a 1km run-walk.
