THIS is a letter to my former SuperCoach loves.

Yes, I’m writing to you Tom Lynch, Heath Shaw, Josh Kennedy and Adam Treloar.

We enjoyed some good times together. Some of our Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays were even joyous.

But it’s hard to forget those down times. The times where you posted 40s and 50s and left me feeling like a jilted SuperCoach lover.

That’s why you’re going on the list all Supercoaches should have – my ‘Never Again’ list.

For the possibility of sky-high scores from players like West Coast’s Kennedy – such as his 174 in Round 1 last year against North Melbourne – or Lynch’s 161 in Round 4 against Carlton, the likelihood is a few low scores are just around the corner.

Call me boring, but I need consistency from my SuperCoach scorers.

A surprise score which costs you bragging rights over a mate or the ultimate SuperCoach glory will be more a nightmare than a welcome surprise.

In a six-week period last year, Lynch threw in scores of 29, 37 and 39.

I told myself our partnership was worth persisting with.

After all, Lynch was the most sought-after player in the game and was set to command one of the most expensive contracts ever seen by the end of 2018.

Those who stuck fat last season will know Lynch’s price plummeted to the point where it wasn’t even worth trading him.

It was that moment I decided it was time to create a ‘Never Again’ list and pencilled Lynch’s name in.

A week before Kennedy was injured and missed a large chunk of the 2017 campaign, I traded him in to my side. The big Eagle can’t be blamed for spending time on the sidelines.

But when he returned with only two hundreds from Round 17 to 23, he joined Lynch on the list.

It became quite obvious. Big key forwards just aren’t my type.

There’s a high likelihood Adam Treloar will leave me feeling like a scorned ex-lover when he emerges as one of the AFL’s elite on-ballers this year or next.

I bought the hype many others Supercoaches did last year, expecting Treloar to rocket past Scott Pendlebury and become Collingwood’s top scorer.

The Magpies on-baller still won plenty of the ball, gathering at least 20 disposals in each of his games. But efficiency let Treloar down in several matches where he failed to hit triple figures.

His 134 and 144 in Rounds 3 and 5 last season were appealing, but three 70s and a 60 from a top-priced midfielder were difficult to overlook. I’ll be taking my premium midfield money elsewhere.

Adding Heath Shaw to the ‘Never Again’ list hurt. The rebounding Giant was a first-choice defender for years, scoring above 90 from 2006-2016.

However, there were signs last year Shaw’s scoring was dropping as his average tumbled from 106 to 83.

Heath and I enjoyed some great times. Who else remembers his five scores of 120 or above in six weeks between Rounds 16 to 21 in 2015?

It’s not you Heath, it’s me.

We all make mistakes. Some of us are even guilty of making the same mistake twice, or even three times.

Whether you learn from them is the important thing. That’s why I have a ‘Never Again’ list.
